Star Wars: Episode I
THE PHANTOM MENACE
Turmoil has engulfed the Galactic Republic. The taxation of trade routes to outlying star
systems is in dispute.
Hoping to resolve the matter with a blockade of deadly battleships, the greedy Trade
Federation has stopped all shipping to the small planet of Naboo.
While the Congress of the Republic endlessly debates this alarming chain of events, the
Supreme Chancellor has secretly dispatched two Jedi Knights, the guardians of peace and
justice in the galaxy, to settle the conflict...
Okay, I got to go see TPM on the first day it was out, (I need to get a frame for my
ticket stub) and it blew me out of the theatre. It was some of the best sci-fi/fantasy
I've seen since Return of the Jedi. now the big question, does it live up to Star Wars?
a little about the movie...
It starts out in a space station, orbiting Naboo, and Obi-Wan and Qui- Gon get there to
start negotiations with the Trade Federation that has a little blockade going on because
apparantloy they don't like the Naboo. Now the Federation doesn't realize that Obi-Wan and
Qui_Gon are Jedi until this droid says someting along the lines of , "hey, i think
that they might be jedi" so they try to kill them. Well, they escape down to Naboo
where the Federation is about to start a full scale war and try and get Queen Amidala to
sign this treaty making the blockade thing legal. Well, the Jedi, first meet Jar-Jar and
go through the Gungan city, then they rescue them and get them off the planet and past the
blockade. They are heading for Courascant and they have to stop to get fuel; replace the
hyperdrive and a bunch of stuff, well they end up stopping off at Tatooine (this place
looks familar) and they find that the credits will not do. They meet this little slave kid
that is really strong in the force named Anikin (or Ani [pronounced An-e]) and Qui-Gon
wins and sets Anikin free during this little pod-race thing. Then they run into Darth Maul
but they have no idea who or what it is. Then they go to Courascant and talk to the
counsil and it doesn't work and they do a little no confidence vote sortof thing and then
they go back to Naboo to try and save the planet. THey get there and they make a treaty
with the Gungans and they like go into the palace and they take over. Then on the way out
of the palace the Jedi meet Maul and they face him, in a nutshell Maul kills Qui-Gon and
then Obi-Wan kills Maul and then Qbi-Wan takes Anikin on as his aprentance. Then the movie
ends and everyone goes, "YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!! STAR WARS RULES MAN!!!!!!!!!!" and
then we sit through the credits commenting on how much we want to soundtrack because the
choir sounds awesome.
